The 1992 FA Cup was the high point of a difficult period of change. Established champions gave way to a new generation as the Premier League began.
Souness returned from Rangers to rebuild an ageing squad. Liverpool beat Sunderland at Wembley, while Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp and Robbie Fowler began to emerge. League results proved much harder to sustain.
