Kenny Dalglish scored for the third successive league match as Liverpool beat West Bromwich Albion 3–0 at Anfield on 27 August 1977. His early goal separated the sides for most of the afternoon before Steve Heighway and Jimmy Case added two more in the closing minutes.
Dalglish had scored at Middlesbrough on the opening Saturday and against Newcastle United on his Anfield debut three days later. Against Albion, Heighway supplied him for the 18th-minute opener. Liverpool led 1–0 at half-time and still held that slender advantage as the match entered its final ten minutes.
The second goal came in the 81st minute, Heighway scoring with Ray Kennedy providing the assist. Four minutes later, Dalglish turned provider for Case to make it 3–0. Liverpool's three scorers had also supplied two of the goals between them.
The result, watched by 48,525, completed two home victories without conceding in the opening week. Liverpool had taken five points from their first three league fixtures and stood second behind Nottingham Forest, who had won all three.
For Dalglish, the week had brought an immediate return: three league appearances, three goals. Liverpool's new forward had scored in each match as the side began its defence of the championship.
